Trip Planning

This year, planning a wedding looks a lot different. In the time of COVID-19, smaller ceremonies have quickly become the norm. Of course, big beautiful weddings are wonderful, but there is something much more intimate, special and memorable about experiencing your big day among your closest family members and friends.

If your wedding plans have changed or you have recently become engaged, a micro wedding is definitely worth exploring. In 2019, the average traditional wedding was $33,900. Micro weddings cost anywhere from $1,600 to $10,000 depending on the size of the guest list and which components you opt for or forego. At Life in Paradise, we're here to offer some local advice if you're planning a micro wedding and looking for a destination.

Tips for Planning a Micro Wedding at Port Aransas

What is a Micro Wedding?

A micro wedding is a small, intimate ceremony with no more than 50 people. Note: Currently, the Governor of Texas has mandated that gatherings are to be no more than 10, so those planning a wedding in Port Aransas should consider those restrictions when choosing their guest list.

Micro weddings can have all of the same festivities and traditions of a larger affair, but simply at a smaller scale.

Micro Wedding Venues on Port Aransas

Like a traditional wedding, you need to decide on the wedding venue first. In Port Aransas, you have a couple of options:

  1. You can rent a beach-front home or home with a dock and have your small ceremony (of 10 people or less) right on the sand (or dock) while the gentle Gulf waves loll in the background. You can then enjoy a catered reception back at your beach rental or opt for a sit-down restaurant option. For a casual welcome dinner or reception, you can reserve private tables for small groups at Port Aransas restaurants.
  2. You can hold your small ceremony and catered reception at a local venue, like Mansion by the Sea

If you do choose to host your micro wedding at your Port Aransas rental home, our staff will be happy to provide vendor recommendations for catering and any other needs.

Micro Wedding Checklist

Aside from the venue and the food, you'll need to decide what other elements of a traditional wedding you'd like to include in your micro wedding. You can incorporate as much or as little as you'd like! Consider what you can't live without and what you're planning on skipping, such as:

  • Photographers
  • Florists
  • Photographer
  • Hair & Makeup
  • Local DJ or Musician
  • Transportation
