You Can Explore Trails at Charlie’s Pasture
Spanning more than 1,200 acres, most visits to the Port Aransas Nature Preserve begin at Charlie’s Pasture, the largest and most expansive site within the preserve.
From the Port Street entrance, where you will find parking, a paved one-mile path leads toward the ship channel. The ADA-accessible Clay’s Hill Trail winds through native vegetation with pond views, while the longer Salt Island Trail extends across boardwalks and tidal marsh to a two-story observation tower.
On the south side, the Highway 361 entrance offers a one-mile trail that alternates between boardwalk and crushed granite, leading through wetlands to an observation tower and connecting toward the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center.
